National Young Writers' Festival Directors
Kelly-lee Hickey
Kelly-lee Hickey (25) visited the National Young Writers
Festival as a wide eyed nineteen year old poet from Darwin and has never looked
back.
She has six years of experience as a project manager, curator, workshop
facilitator, festival director and producer, editor, dramaturg and radio
producer for the likes of The National Young Writers Festival, Darwin Fringe,
The Emerging Writers Festival, Wordstorm, Larrakia Radio, Express Media,
Overload Poetry Festival and a whole host of community organisations,
collectives and local governments.
In her spare time she studies community development and post modernity, writes
and performs alone and with friends, and dances to Kate Bush in her kitchen.
Nic Low
Originally a kiwi, Nic has spent the last four years making
mischief in Melbourne. As well as co-directing the National Young Writers'
Festival and writing for various Australian publications, he makes interventionist installation art
for festivals around the country, runs a web/graphic design practice (DISLOCATED), is co-editor and designer of
the Nomadology travel
writing project and in his more lucid moments sits on the curatorial board of
the Next Wave arts festival. He is
also currently finishing his first novel as part of a Masters in Creative
Writing at the University of Melbourne.
