come here, kom-my

Crack Theatre Festival

When I dream, I see myself as light skinned with brown hair. Sometimes I look at myself in the mirror and I am shocked to see such distinct Asian features.

I am consistently mistaken for Chinese but when I bounce back with pride in my Cambodian heritage, I am unable to answer questions about the geography of the country, the language and the specificities of the culture.

come here, kom-my is a solo show in dire need to discover what being a second generation New Zealand Cambodian means for myself and how the uniqueness of Cambodian culture interacts with our society.
